With the current economic cuts to Britains beloved libraries, destroying these epicentres of calm and free books, it’s comforting to know that until 1st March, Selfridges is providing a much needed alternative. The concept of Words Words Words, is to celebrate all aspects of the written word, from grammar to storytelling, handwriting to Greek philosophy.
Aside from a diary full of events to get involved with, on the basement you will find a haven for many a book lover in central London; a library. The curated space not only provides a wide range of titles, from art to history, and back to classics, it also is, as any library should be, a quiet place in which to settle down and get completely emersed in a book. It is also interactive, with e-books spread amongst the coffee tables, and various typewriters to have a go on. So if you need a moment of calm in the rush of the city, pop into Selfridges, and get lost in a book.
